Celebrating my 6 year "Stellaversary" as a Stella & Dot Stylist

Warning: long, reflective and proud post ahead. :) On Saturday, April 16, I was too busy soaking up a great Stella & Dot bootcamp/training and hanging out with friends that I forgot to share that it was my 6 year anniversary with Stella & Dot -- my Stellaversary!

Six years, y'all. That in and of itself is quite an accomplishment for me and my career. (Most people bounce around jobs every 2-3 years... and I personally did not stay at a job longer than 3ish years... unless you count babysitting, which I have been consistently doing for the last 15 years, ha! ;))

Over six years ago, I fell in love with the Charlize Teadrop Earrings I had seen on Jillian Harris when she was a guest on Extreme Makeover Home Edition! (She'd also worn quite a few pieces of Stella & Dot jewelry while she was on The Bachelorette, too, that I loved!) I had to see it all in person, so I hosted a trunk show... and because of that, I loved shopping with a fabulous discount and I had to have more! At first, it was all about getting more jewelry. I had no idea what I was doing, just finished graduate school and was working full-time in marketing (with a not-so-shopping-friendly income)... but I loved fashion (and dreamed of working in the industry) and wanted to earn a little extra money!

Truly, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made -- I jumped in and never looked back! Fast forward to three years after starting with Stella & Dot... I was depressed, feeling unfilled in my workplace and wasn't loving who I was as a person. But Stella & Dot was my happy place. My supportive family and friends encouraged me to follow my heart and my passion, and so I quit my "desk job" to really give this a go! It's been 3+ years since I made that leap, and I'm proud to say that I work full time for myself, as Stella & Dot Stylist, alongside various fun and rewarding part-time gigs!

In the last 6 years... I have:

• Purchased and paid off a new car
• Earned 4 all-expense paid incentive trips (to the Atlantis - Bahamas, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Puta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Montego Bay, Jamaica... next stop, half way to earning Costa Rica!)
• Promoted myself to 5 career ranks
• Received company-coveted accolades, such as Style Council and Style Council Elite
• Traveled to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Las Vegas and Orlando "for work"
• Styled ladies who were on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad
• Shopped THOUSANDS of DOLLARS in FREE product for myself
• Blogged over 200 posts of our gorgeous accessories as seen on TV shows, celebrities, in magazines and more
• Grown a team of 100+ incredible business partners across the US and in Canada
• Been given the opportunity to make 3000+ women to feel fabulous with at least one accessory (or lots of accessories ;))... along with a few good men who've purchased a piece to make their ladies feel special!
• And so much more.

Oh, and just this week, I earned myself one of Stella & Dot's FIRST EVER diamond necklaces, which are coming later this fall - so exciting!

But... I feel like the best (and most important!) thing I have received from Stella & Dot is the friendship and support of an amazing group of women, who I have grown to love and lean on! Beyond the business and the trunk shows, I have a support system that can rival any other sisterhood (just as much as my sorority sisters -- and a few have also joined me in on the fun!). They have been the "framily" that I never knew I needed. That in itself is worth joining us.

My passion for making women feel great in their own skin hasn't changed... but now, I realize that this business has been life-changing for me. I have a dream job, and I can't keep it to myself - this should be shared with others! I'm special... but not that special... anyone can do this! Yes - anyone. Even you. :) So many more lives can be touched by this opportunity -- and it's my new passion to help others find their joy and their own successes. April Birchbox - Natural Wonders

Sometimes I wonder about the Birchbox curators... I am so excited to receive my Birchbox every month - and I have such high hopes after seeing what others post on Pinterest and such. More often than not, I am disappointed in my selection of samples versus what I see other people receive. I've tried to revise my profile a little, but maybe they just don't get me.

April's Birchbox was filled with "natural wonder" samples.

• Marula The Leakey Collection | Omega Rich Pure Marula Oil - Sourced from the rare East African marula fruit, this sustainably harvested oil has sky-high levels of antioxidant to fight premature signs of aging. My issue with this product is that I am not worried about anti-aging samples, and I prefer not to use oils on my face. I haven't decided if I'll try this or not yet. Maybe I'll see if my mom wants to test it out.
• tarte | LipSurgence lip tint in Amazed - This over-sized lip crayon boosts moisture levels while adding a wash of sheer pigment. This lip crayon actually arrived a little melted in the tube so I decided to clean it off and apply some of the "wipe off" on my lips. I actually really liked it! It's a great perfectly tinted pinkish/red color that is actually flattering to my skin tone.
• Wonderstruck Taylor Swift (Perfume) - While I love Taylor Swift as an artist, I think she should stay out of the perfumery business. Let's just say, this perfume smells like a 12 year old teenybopper who is stuck inside of a candy store. It's too fruity and floral for my taste. I'm 26 - I have no desire to smell like that so I threw it out immediately.
• Yu-Be | Moisturizing Skin Cream - The bestselling Japanese cream has a highly concentrated formula that heals cracked hands, chapped lips and all other forms of dryness. I'm open to trying this - but I am sort of partial to a certain Kiehl's product that works similarly. 
• Beauty Extra: MicrodermaMitt | Body Mitt - This all-natural silk mitt gently exfoliates away dead skin cells and pore-clogging debris. Hm, okay... I'm not super-excited about this body mitt, but I'll try it out.

I am still waiting for the day when I get the most amazing Birchbox ever. Because it's only $10 a month, I'll give it another couple of chances. I haven't found anything that I love so much that I want to get the full-size product yet. I wish they would ask you what brands you use/like/would be interested in trying so that I can start getting some products that fall into my area of interest. All in all - this is fun to try out, but I can't say this is the most amazing box yet. Until next time...
