"Why I Style" with Stella & Dot

This week, our Home Office team at Stella & Dot asked the Stylist community to share on social media why we style. Reading everyone's posts has been so inspiring (just look up #whyistyle or #sdjoy on Instagram)!

I also was inspired by another friend's story to think about "what I joined Stella & Dot for..." and "what I got instead..." were never what I imagined! When I first started this business, I was looking for a creative outlet and just wanted a way to get more of the accessories that I loved for free - or at a really deep discount (as I was not making a lot of money in my first job). Honestly, I thought people in direct sales were a little crazy, and only thought I'd do a trunk show for family and a few close friends, but never any more than that!

That quickly changed when I was battling depression in my first job after graduate school just a few years ago. I realized that this business could potentially replace my income and allow me to leave a place that made me unhappy. Six years later, I've been able to replace - and double! - the income I was making at that job, as well as take on other part-time "passion" projects that make me happy!

Now, one of the reasons I style is to create more happiness... in my life and the lives of others! A light shined through my darkness, and it was my Stella & Dot business that made me happiest. By sharing that glimmer with others, I've helped the incredible women on my team find a creative outlet to support jewelry addiction or a business opportunity to earn extra income or grow their skillsets, developed new friendships and relationships in my community, and helped many women (and a few great men!) to find that perfect piece of jewelry to wear every day, to gift to a friend or loved one, or to be a part of a special occasion... which all generates a little more happiness each day.

If you want to do it for the fun, the extra sparkle, the travel, the guilt-free shoe shopping, to renovate your home, or because you only get 18 summers at home with your kiddos before they leave for college, in the end, you do it for you - and what makes YOU happy, and that's pretty amazing.

By now, you know I love what I do as a Stylist for Stella & Dot... and it is so much more than just selling gorgeous accessories! ;) It can be done part-time or full-time and flexibly around your busy schedule! Our October sign-on special is so good, it would be irresponsible of me not to share!

Stella & Dot in Germany - October Multi-City Tour

The Stella & Dot German team is doing a multi-city MSD tour next week throughout Germany with Mike Lohner and Sabine Schropp, Associate Director, to introduce more fabulous women across Germany to the Stella & Dot opportunity and brand. If you - or someone you know - happen to know any expats living in Germany or have German friends in Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg or Cologne/Duesseldorf – please share this information with them! Below you can find individual city invites with locations, times and dates as well as information regarding our sign up special in Germany this month! It is really the perfect time to join!

Diese Events eignen sich optimal dafür die Marke Stella & Dot kennen zu lernen, die unwiderstehlichen Schmuck und Accessoires an-und auszuprobieren und alles über die Möglichkeit zu erfahren Stella & Dot Stylist zu werden. Nicht vergessen, das Sign up Special aus September wurde bis zum 30. Oktober verlängert. Im Anhang findet hier auch nochmal das Angebot.

19.30 Uhr Mike erzählt etwas zur Geschichte von Stella & Dot und die Möglichkeiten Stylist zu werden
20.00 Uhr -21.00 Uhr Stylisten Training mit Associate Director Sabine Schropp (potenzielle Stylisten haben hier auch die Möglichkeit teilzunehmen)

Wie Ihr seht findet direkt im Anschluss das Training mit Sabine Schropp statt. Dies ist Eure Möglichkeit mehr über die Grundprinzipien Verkaufen, Buchen und Sponsern  zu erfahren. Ihr solltet Euch diese einmalige Möglichkeit nicht entgehen lassen. Sabine wird von Ihrer Geschichte erzählen und Ihr werdet erfahren wie Sie es bereits zum Associate Director geschafft hat.

In October, 100% of net proceeds from our Breast Cancer Awareness Boutique will support the Noreen Fraser Foundation. This is the second year in a row that Stella & Dot has partnered with the Noreen Fraser Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last year (2012), we raised over $185,000 for breast cancer research and early detection.

Funds raised last year helped NFF fund a lab at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center so that researchers there can test a cutting edge new epigenetic therapy for breast cancer. In Canada, NFF provided the University of Alberta with a grant so doctors there could test a new radiation therapy for women with early stage breast cancer.

Stella & Dot Collaborates with Alice Temperley

I'm excited to share Stella & Dot's new partnership with famed British fashion designer Alice Temperley!

Launching on October 1, 2012, the collaboration consists of a series of whimsical charms inspired by Alice’s own extensive collection and personal icons with a feeling of the dream world of “Alice in Wonderland.” The collaboration collection will include 5 beautiful pieces (including 2 limited editions), priced from $39 to $158.
